A prayer for the world Luys (Light)
Lida Köseoğlu released her first solo performance album: LUYS (LIGHT). LUYS (LIGHT) symbolizes the existence in the world. And this album stands as a symbol of Lida’s existence. Each of 9 hymns contained in the album is selected from works performed in ceremonies in the Armenian Church.
The album which was being recorded in 2016 is named after Lida Köseoğlu’s daughter Luys who would come into the world soon. The album, which has extra importance due to that reason, was recorded in the Saint Pierre – Saint Paul Church located in Galata. The live recording featuring fabulous acoustic of the church and impressive sound of pipe organ came into existence following a two-day recording process, and is the first of its kind in Istanbul. Pianist Edvin Galipoğlu, general coordinator of the album, showed diligent efforts on many aspects of the album including repertoire selection, and also accompanied the pipe organ.
Lida Köseoğlu’s acquaintance with Hymns and Armenian songs goes back as early as her childhood when she attended the Taksim Saint Harutyun
Armenian Church Lusavorich Choir when she was 12 years old. Upon graduating from Part-time Chorister Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory, she continued her education with vocal training. She enriched her repertoire with many Armenian classical works, romances, and Armenian folk songs. She delivered solo performances in many concerts which she participated with the Lusarovich Choir. She contributed to social responsibility projects with her Armenian songs performances. In 2015, she sang works of Armenian composer Majak Toshikyan in the Premier of Hrant Dink Oratorio in Yerevan, Armenia. In 2016, she was attended an event the UNESCO Building in Paris upon invitation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, where she proved, once again, the place of music in the Armenian culture with the Armenian songs she sang.
Lida Köseoğlu who continues her studies for a new album will promote her album with the concerts to be organized in September in Yerevan.
